Workshop
& AGM Programme
Wednesday 16th February
THERMAL COMFORT
AND HEAT STRESS
WORKSHOP 2.00-4.30PM
The environmental
factors assessed in the measurement of thermal comfort include; air temperature,
radiant temperature, relative humidity and air velocity. In addition the
metabolic rate and clothing unit values will be examined and applied.
These parameters are used to assess the thermal comfort using the PMV
and PPD values.
The measurement of
heat stress will be demonstrated using the WBGT index. The WBGT index
combines the measurement of natural wet-bulb temperature, the globe temperature
and in some situations, the measurement of basic air temperature, (dry
bulb temperature). The data collected will be compared with the reference
values
The Workshop will
be run by:
Mr. Paddy Wright, Wright Environmental Services and Dr Marie Coggins,
Air Quality Technology Centre, NUI, Galway.
Assistance on the day will be provided by Dr Brian Crook from HSL and
Ossian Geraghty, Sligo IT.
Numbers are restricted
to members only, pre-registration is required.
